A fall wedding at Farm at Woods Hill, Bath New Hampshire

Michaela and Charlie’s wedding was years in the making. The two first met in middle school, where they dated before going their separate ways in high school. Years later, they reconnected at a middle school reunion—and they’ve been together ever since.

I first met Michaela and Charlie at her sister’s wedding a few summers ago. We stayed in touch, and when Michaela reached out about photographing their wedding, I was already booked on their original date. When they told me that they wanted to move their wedding date so I could be there to photograph it, I was incredibly honored. It was one of the biggest compliments I could receive as a photographer.

Their wedding took place on a property with its own rich history. The land was once owned by the late singer Patti Page, where maple syrup was made. Today, the property ( Farm at Woods Hill) belongs to Charlie’s mother, where they raise pork to supplies to their restaurants. Family, food, the farm, and their animals are at the heart of Michaela and Charlie’s lives, so naturally, all of those things found their way into their wedding day.

Michaela and her mother are both florists, and their talent and connection to the natural world were everywhere. The flowers were absolutely breathtaking, from the abundant arrangements to the thoughtful details throughout the tablescapes. They incorporated touches of things grown right on the property, bringing the landscape and the season into the celebration in such a beautiful and intentional way. Nothing felt overly designed—it felt gathered, organic, abundant, and completely at home in the setting.

With a true farm-to-table philosophy and a deep appreciation for knowing where your food comes from, they knew their catering needed to be something special. Chef James, founder of Heirloom Fire, brought an immersive, open-fire cooking experience to the celebration. Watching the team cook over the fire—and documenting that process—was every bit as soulful as the food itself. The entire day felt deeply personal.

There was so much love, incredible food, beautiful fall color, family, and plenty of four-legged and feathered friends woven throughout the celebration. But perhaps what I’ll remember most is the trust. Michaela and Charlie trusted me completely as an artist. They gave me the freedom to see their day through my own eyes and create honestly, intuitively, and with intention. Their wedding was nothing short of beautiful—and the kind of day that stays with you long after the photographs are delivered.
