New York City Newborn photographer/ Luna’s newborn session

Vermont, New England, and NYC newborn photographer.

I traveled from snowy Vermont down to New York City for sweet Luna’s newborn session. Baby girl did not disappoint, she slept the whole time while swaddled and wide awake when not.  Big Brother B was wonderful with his new baby sister, and rocked his part of the session.

I loved every moment of this session and can’t wait to see Luna grow, until next time NYC.

When sweet baby D’s mother contacted me about an upcoming in home lifestyle newborn session, I was thrilled. I find it very special when clients want to capture their newborn’s first days in their own homes. There is something so calming about in home lifestyle session and the E family session was no different. What a wonderful family, by the end of the day it felt like I had known them for years. The “E” family’s home had the most amazing natural light and their beautiful old farmhouse was the perfect backdrop. Little man did not make a peep for his whole session and I didn’t see his eyes once. It was a true joy to photograph their sweet new baby boy.

I  was blown away when little man’s photo won me a “Top sixteen of 16” from www.hellodearphotographer.com , a complete honor from one of my favorite photography community and forums.

2016 A year in review / Vermont, New England, NYC photographer

2016 A YEAR IN REVIEW.

Vermont, New England, NYC photographer.

As 2016 comes to a close, I sit here and look back over the year. This year was good to me in many ways, both personally and business wise. I am continued to be blessed with a healthy family and wonderful friends. Five children that despite my best efforts to keep little, they continue to grow.

2016 brought over 60 sessions, my busiest year yet. This year was also the first of many changes; a new business name, new website and blog. This year also brought my first time to have my worked featured and in print, a dream I have had since I started working. I was lucky enough to cross paths with photography community that felt like home. I stumbled across LooksLikeFilm late 2015 and I knew it a community that I wanted to be a part of. Early 2016 I started posting my newborn work on their Facebook forum, and I am proud to say I have been lucky enough to have 5 Daily Features over the year. When the opportunity came to attend their NYC workshop,  to meet and learn from some my favorite photographers from across the world. It was a no brainer that I had to go. In October I spent the week back in NYC with a group of 50 photographers from across the country and the world. To say that that week was life changing is understatement. I was reminded who I was an artist, what was important to as a business owner, and where I wanted to take my career.

As I say a bittersweet goodbye to 2016, I am reminded how wonderful this year was. I look forward to 2017, with any luck and hard work this year will be as good. Until next year!!!!

xoxo,

Kristy

Vermont newborn photographer/ Henry’s newborn session

I had to take some time from the busiest fall and winter season I have ever had, to finally get caught up on some blogging. Sweet Henry came into the studio for his newborn session with his wonderful family. Henry’s mom is the aunt of one of my favorite clients families, so I knew that it was going to be a fun session.  Let me tell you little man did not disappoint, he slept like a champ. Big sister was so proud of her new little brother and it it shows in Henry’s newborn photos.

Newborn sessions are so near and dear to my heart, it’s a time that goes by so fast. It’s a time that deserves to captured. My approach to newborn photography is simple, a blend of modern studio and lifestyle. It’s timeless, pure, and emotional driven portraiture that will stand the test of time.

Vermont baby photographer / Mommy & Me session

It’s late fall in Vermont and I am already missing the warmth of a New England summer. So what better way to remember a beautiful Vermont summer day than with one of my favorite sessions of the year.

Molly and her Mom Jolee, came all the way from Boston for their ” Mommy and Me” river session. I have known Jolee since we were children, and it is always a honor to capture life long friend’s special moments. Baby Molly was a dream for her session, with those big brown eyes and sweet little cheeks. As any mother knows children grow up too fast and taking the time to have professional photos is important. I know Molly and her Mom will love and cherish these photos for a lifetime.

Vermont newborn photographer/ Hanover / Sophia’s newborn session

Vermont Newborn Photographer

Newborn photography is something I am quite passionate about. In the beginning my style was very different. When I first started out, I would have very stylized sessions, and over time I noticed I was drawn as an artist to the simple photos of my newborn clients. This past year I have followed that path to simple more baby lead posing, a mix between lifestyle and studio portraiture. I took a leap of faith when it came to my business and work and I couldn’t be happier with the results. My small Vermont studio took on a full remodel, I sold off everything I had, and started with a clean slate. Walls were painted, setups were simplified with a mix between modern and timeless, and finally a new business name and website rolled out.

When Sophia’s mother contacted late summer to inquire about a possible newborn session, I knew from the moment we spoke we were a perfect match as photographer and client. She told me that she was really drawn to to the simple and timelessness of my studio newborn portraits. I am thrilled when clients say they “sought me out for my style” and they “completely trust me for my vision” for their newborn session. Sophia’s session was all about her infancy and parents, a time that any parent will tell you goes by in a blink of eye. I know Sophia’s parents will cherish her photos for years to come and will proudly display them in their home.
